Face ThreadLift procedure versus Smooth Threads

The first thing to understand about threads for the face is:  What is the difference between "Face ThreadLift" procedures and applications of "PDO Smooth Threads"?

Face ThreadLifts procedures require more training and expertise by your nurse.  They use much longer and most robust threads for lifting sagging skin on the face for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawlines, brows, cheeks, and neck.  This procedure places from 2 - 8 or so longer "lifting threads" which have mechanisms (barbs or cones) to catch the skin tissue and actually pulls and lifts the tissue upward.

PDO Smooth threads, on the other hand, are tiny threads on tiny needles that are inserted just under your epidermis in a cross-hatch or other pattern typically and work to build collagen over time to tighten, tone and firm that area.

Both types of threads are made of safe dissolvable sutures that naturally re-abosorb in the body over time.  We describe further below, but you can also read this blog:  My Experience with Silhouette Instalift Face Thread Lift blog,  on the subject to learn more and see a video.

What is the Silhouette InstaLift ThreadLift or MINT PDO Threadlift Procedure?

Silhouette InstaLift™ threadlift aor the MINT PDO threadlift is a non-surgical, in-office procedure that uses completely dissolvable sutures to lift and reposition sagging skin of the face and jawline. There are two different brands of face threadlift threads which we carry (which are priced the same): Silhouette InstaLift and MINT PDO threads are both used at Glosshouz to provide the Face ThreadLift procedure.  Your cometic nurse will be able to recommend the best threads for your aesthetic goals.

In-office treatment to create lifting in the midface and jowls

The Glosshouz Face ThreadLift procedure is performed in spa (appointment time is 60 mins) by our medical cosmetic nurse personnel.  With their eye for beauty and experience with facial appearance enhancements, our nurses will be able to expertly discuss your concerns and let you know about your options with threads to enhance your appearance.

This procedure is focused on lifting the skin and stimulating collagen. Some threads are barbed to grip the skin and others may have tiny “cones” that are adept at grabbing tissue. All types of threads are made from bio-compatible suture  materials which dissolve within the skin over time and yet allow collagenesis to build structure in the skin over time.  The immediate results are derived from the threads pulling the skin up to produce a noticeable lift to the cheeks, jawline, neck or brows.  While results may vary, most clients can expect to enjoy the impact of their Face Threadlift for 1 - 2 years.

A Face Threadlift appointment takes about 60 minutes on average. First the insertion areas are numbed with local anesthesia. Then, the threads are inserted into the skin, with minimal guest discomfort.  Some people may experience mild soreness and swelling for a few days after having this procedure, but it can

usually be managed with over the counter pain relievers. As such, you will probably be able to return to your normal activities within 24 hours.

What to expect for a Face ThreadLift Procedure

After a consultation with the nurse to determine if you are a good candidate and also the best approach and placement for threads, then you are ready to be treated.  The procedure is not long (only about 60 mins).

Known side effects are minimal.

Steps taken during a Face ThreadLift Procedure include:

  1. Consult to determine concerns, approach, and procedure design

  2. Sanitize the skin areas to be treated with antiseptic

  3. Numb the areas to be treated with local anesthetic (by Lidocain injection)

  4. Insert the threads

  5. Maniplulate the threads to the desired lifted position

  6. Clean the skin and enjoy the results

  7. Let the healing and rejuvenation process begin

Face ThreadLift Treatments FAQ

What Is Silhouette Instalift™ Thread Lift Procedure?

Silhouette InstaLift™ is a non-surgical, threading procedure that uses completely dissolvable threads to lift and reposition sagging skin of the face and neck to yield both immediate and long-term results. InstaLift™ uses micro-suspension technology (MST) to provide an immediate lifting effect to the cheeks, jowls, nasolabial folds, jawline, and neck. Over time, InstaLift™ treatment stimulates collagen production to improve skin quality, volume, and thickness. The Silhouette InstaLift™ is available now at Glosshouz with our trained nurse medical personnel.

How Does Instalift™ Thread Lift Work?

InstaLift™ treatment involves skillful placement of dissolvable sutures beneath the skin to physically lift deeper layers of the midface and neck. These innovative sutures contain small, bi-directional cones that function to elevate the skin and reposition areas of concern in the cheeks, jowls, nasolabial folds, jawline, and/or neck. Typically, the treatment will

involve placing from 2-8 threads on each side of the face to create the lifting effect. At Glosshouz, each guest is given a comprehensive assessment and our trained cosmetic nurse personnel will customize the InstaLift™ procedure to address each guest's individual needs, degree of skin laxity, and aesthetic desires.

What Are the Silhouette InstaLift Threads Made Of?

InstaLift™ threads are made of poly-glycolic acid (PGA) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLA). PGA and PLA are degradable sugar materials that are well-tolerated by the body and commonly used.  The threads will dissolve within 4 to 6 months. While the sutures are dissolving, the body produces its own natural collagen to keep the face and neck nicely lifted.

What Makes Someone a Good Candidate for Instalift™ at Glosshouz?

The ideal InstaLift™candidate will have good skin elasticity and mild to moderate skin laxity. At Glosshouz, the typical InstaLift™ client is concerned with:

  • Sagging in the mid-face

  • Sagging in the jawline

  • Visible nasolabial folds and/or marionette lines

  • Visible jowls forming on the jawline

  • Desire to avoid surgery and general anesthesia

  • Prefer nonsurgical treatment options

  • Prefer minimal downtime for a long-lasting result

  • May desire a combination of filler treatments and threadlift treatments for optimal results

During your consultation and facial assessment, our trained cosmetic nurse personnel will determine whether you are a candidate for InstaLift™. Persons with very thin or thick skin may not be good candidates for the InstaLift Threadlift Face Procedure.

Does the Instalift™ Procedure Hurt?

InstaLift™ is a comfortable procedure, with most patients reporting minimal to no discomfort.  The InstaLift™ treatment begins with an initial numbing process, which involves the injection of a local anesthetic to the treatment areas. The local anesthetic acts to minimize any discomfort and ensures that the placement of the sutures is painless. The Lidocaine injection is comparable to a a few seconds of bee sting.

Is Instalift™ a Surgery?

While it may give several benefits of surgery, InstaLift™ is an in-office procedure that does not require anesthesia or any cutting. There is NO scar with InstaLift™. At Glosshouz, the procedure only takes about 45 minutes and patients are able to resume their normal activities shortly after treatment.  A Thread Lift procedure at Glosshouz is a par with a dermal filler treatment.

Is There a Scar with an InstaLift Thread Lift Procedure?

No. As mentioned above, the InstaLift™ procedure does not involve any scalpels, incisions, or wounds. During your treatment, the nurse will use a small needle to create entrance points in the skin for inserting the InstaLift™ threads. These small entrance points heal within 1-2 days and will not leave a scar.

What’s the Difference Between a Facelift and Instalift™ Thread Lift Procedure?

While both procedures offer fantastic results for lifting sagging skin, a facelift is a surgery that requires anesthesia and has downtime. After facelift surgery, there may be bruising and swelling, with recovery time typically lasting 2 to 4 weeks. At Glosshouz, we only provide minimally invasive aesthetic procedures, so we do not offer facelift surgery.  While a facelift is a definitive procedure with several years of longevity, some people prefer not to go under the knife and select the InstaLift procedure instead. InstaLift™ offers a nonsurgical alternative to a facelift, providing similar results with no surgery, no anesthesia, and minimal downtime. Following InstaLift™ treatment, there may be some swelling and soreness but guests are able to walk out with little to no downtime.

What Is the Downtime for Instalift™ Thread Lift?

Clients may experience soreness for 1-2 days but there is generally very little downtime associated with the InstaLift™ Thread Lift procedure. Guests may resume normal activity within 24 hours of the procedure and should avoid strenuous movement of the face where treated for about a week. The particular downtime for each person will depend on their aesthetic goals and unique anatomy. After the procedure, we will provide you with specific InstaLift™ Thread Lift Procedure post-treatment recommendations to ensure the best outcome. We find most clients will be recovered and socially presentable with a possible bruise only remaining by 3 days after the procedure.

Are There Side Effects to Instalift™ Threadlift Procedure?

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are potential side effects to InstaLift™ Thread Lift Procedure. Soreness, bruising, and swelling may occur in the treated areas and should dissipate within 3 to 7 days. Immediately following the procedure you may feel an uncomfortable tightness to the skin due to the lifting effect of the threads. This tightness typically resolves within 2 weeks. After placement, there may be initial skin irregularity or slight depressions that appear near the entry points. These symptoms should resolve within a few days. Other potential side effects include asymmetry and sensory nerve injury. InstaLift™ is typically a very safe procedure.

What Is the Price for Instalift™ Thread Lift Procedure?

Every procedure is tailored to the patient’s specific needs and anatomy. At Glosshouz, while we provide typical pricing for commonly completed procedures, we will give each guest a full facial assessment to determine the best course of action based on your unique anatomy and aesthetic goals. Following your consultation and facial assessment, a final price can be determined.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Following InstaLift™ Thread Lift Procedure, you can expect to see continued improvement in skin sagging and laxity over the next 6 months as the sutures cause gradual collagen regeneration. The results provided by InstaLift™ typically lasts for 1.5 to 2 years. Some guests may choose to undergo an InstaLift™ Thread Lift Treatment every year or every other year to maintain the results.

Can I Still Have Fillers and Botox® After Instalift™?

Yes. InstaLift™ Thread Lift Procedures can be used in conjunction with other minimally invasive treatments to address multiple aesthetic concerns. Together, BOTOX®dermal filler, and InstaLift™ Thread Lift procedures can diminish the signs of aging by improving the appearance of wrinkles, restore volume, and lift the skin. Patients should wait 1 week after receiving BOTOX®, or filler injection to have an InstaLift™ Thread Lift treatment. Additionally, after undergoing the InstaLift™ Thread Lift Procedure, patients should wait at least 2 weeks to have any additional facial procedures, including BOTOX® and/or dermal filler injections. This allows for the skin to properly heal and for any bruising and swelling to resolve.
