Semaglutide-assisted Medical Weight Loss Program

Metabolous,  meaning to undergo metabolic  metamorphosis, captures the essence of the Glosshouz Metabolous Wellness Programs.

One of our Metabolous Wellness categories is our Medical Weight-loss Program.  This is developed in conjunction with Glosshouz experienced Nurse Practitioner, Amber Lester, DNP, FNP-C.

Medical Weight Loss Program utilizes an injectable treatment that is given once weekly with a tiny shot.  While everyone is different, most patients on this treatment, called Semaglutide, have been able to lose 15-20% of their starting body weight over 6 - 12 months.  

Medical Weight Loss Program

Our Metabolous Medical Weight Loss Program encourages life-style changes in nutrition and moderate exercise that can be sustained for an improved overall health and well-being.

To qualify for participating in the Metabolous Medical Weight Loss Program at Glosshouz the following steps will be taken: 

  1. Book a Wellness Consultation (45 mins) During this appointment we will provide a thorough consultation about weight goals, nutrition and exercise. We will weigh and measure your BMI and give you an understanding of how the program works. 

  2. Give a blood sample Next, we'll draw a quick blood sample from you to obtain your Wellness Labs for Weight Loss (this is done in spa)  Please fast (do not eat anything; drink only water for 8 hours) before your appointment for labs or this consultation appointment.

  3. Assess your Health Biomarkers - Once your Wellness Labs are received back, we will provide you with a full report of your recorded biomarkers and help educate you about their levels and meaning.    

  4. Assuming all is Clear We can begin the first injection same day.  Contraindications for our Medical Weight Loss program with Semaglutide include history of Thyroid cancer or MEN-II Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia among other things.

  5. Achieve your Weight Loss Goals - Most guest clients on the Medical Weight Loss program can expect to lose noticeable amount of weight beginning in just 4 weeks.  The program duration is dependent upon your weight loss goals and your starting weight.  Once you reach your ideal weight, in 6 months for example, then you are free to stop or tier-down the medication as recommended.  However, Semaglutide (the medicine which was originally developed for treating Type II diabetes, is understood to be safe for long-term use).

Glosshouz does not accept insurance pay for the Medical Weight Loss program treatments (and most insurance plans do not cover weight loss treatments without other health issues). All treatments and medication shall be paid for in advance.

About Semaglutide for Weight Loss

 

Semaglutide is a GLP-1s (glucagon-like peptide-1s) that safely kick-starts your metabolic health. Semaglutide is a hormone peptide molecule that is the same as a naturally occurring one we have in our body.  It acts on appetite centers in the brain and in the gut, producing feelings of satiety or feeling full. Semaglutide helps regulate insulin and blood sugar levels which is beneficial for your metabolism.

Tiered-up Dosing Schedule for Semaglutide every 4 Weeks

Semaglutide is given to patients on a titrated or tiered-up amount of dosing each month (or more specifically each 4 weeks of dosing) such as .25 mg, .5 mg, 1.0 mg etc.  up to 2.4 mg.  This is in order to get your body used to the medication slowly and to minimize side effects that can occur.  Depending on how you tolerate the Semaglutide and how your weight loss results are progressing, you may or may not reach the maximum dosing schedule.

Side effects that are possible with Semaglutide include:

Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, tiredness, dizziness, or constipation. 

Not everyone will experience these side effects.  If they do occur, the patient can choose to stay at the previous lower dose until they get used to it.  Symptoms are also known to lessens as you continue to use Semaglutide. If any of these effects last or get worse, then you would need to tell your provider right away.  Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Persons on Semaglutide are Able to Make Healthier Nutritional Choices

Over time, the Semaglutide is known to take away the "hunger/food noise" that we all experience and persons on the Medical Weight Loss Program say they are better able to make healthy nutritional choices in their regular feeding plans. This is hoped to get you in the habit of a healthy lifestyle so that once you reach your ideal weight and are able to stop taking the Semaglutide injections, you are better equipped to sustain the weight loss that you have achieved.
