Step-by-step Waxing Procedure
If you've not tried this before, then no worries! We'll walk you through what to expect with your waxing services at Glosshouz. Our professional staff can be trusted to deliver the best waxing service possible.
Get wax ready. Do's and Don'ts. If it is your first time waxing, then we recommend you refrain from shaving for at least two weeks before your appointment. Don't tan the area you plan to wax 24 to 48 hours before reservation. Don't consume alcohol or significant amounts of caffeine before your reservation. Both can cause your pores to tighten, resulting in a more uncomfortable experience.
Relax. We urge you to think of your waxing service at Glosshouz as a spa treatment! View your waxing experience as a bit of pampering that results in luxuriously smooth skin.
Comfort. You'll be welcomed for your appointment and made comfortable in a robe and slippers. You can even have a glass of champagne or a cup of tea if you like!
Wax specialist consult. Our wax specialist will come to retrieve you from the relaxation room and lead to one of our private treatment rooms. All of our wax specialists are licensed professionals trained in performing safe and effective waxing services. Inform your service provider of any medications you are taking, such as antibiotics, Accutane, or topical creams you’re using, such as Retin-A, which may not be compatible with waxing.
Disrobe. You'll next be asked to disrobe the area to be waxed entirely and get onto the treatment table. A sheet and or a towel may be used to drape over you.
Waxing service. We'll first gently cleanse the area to be treated. We'll apply a soothing pre-wax oil to protect the skin. Now it's time for your waxing service. We apply a hard wax at a warm, luxurious-bath-water temperature. Of course, because everyone is different, we recommend that you speak up if you have any discomfort or if you feel the wax is too warm. Hard wax, also referred to as a strip-less wax, gets its name from the actual wax cooling and hardening after application onto the skin. The wax itself is then removed without the use of a cloth strip. Waxing a bikini or Brazilian may take from 15 to 30 minutes for the appointment time. Once we're done waxing, we'll apply a soothing after-wax gel.
After your first wax.
Your first wax removes the majority of hair that has grown above the skin. Because hairs grow in different cycles, your subsequent waxes will remove the hairs that were still growing below the skin’s surface but have now risen above the skin. After three to four waxes, all of your hair should be growing in the same cycle, resulting in longer lasting smooth skin.
What are the possible side-effects and how to treat them?
Redness after waxing
Redness will disappear in a short time. You can be red from a few minutes to a few days depending on your skin sensitivity.
Stubble after waxing
If you’ve just gotten waxed and are already seeing a “5 o’clock shadow”, just know that our hairs grow in different cycles. It’s possible that the hairs just below the skin’s surface have grown out after your wax service, resulting in a stubbly feel. Moisturizing daily between services is a must; dry or brittle hair can easily break during a wax service. You should allow these hairs to grow so we can remove them next time we see you.
