Sugaring is an all-natural alternative to waxing hair removal that utilizes a sugar paste.
The sugar product used may contain lemon or other all natural ingredients as well. The sugar is water soluble and will dissolve when warm water is added. The sugaring paste is quite easy to remove and is ideal for sensitive skin types. The sugar will be warmed to the appropriate temperature so that the paste is comfortable, malleable and can be maneuvered.
The hair removal process is quite similar but some benefits may be had with sugaring versus waxing as described below.
Benefits of Sugaring Hair Removal include
All natural and organic
Able to go back over already sugared areas within the same appointment
Exfoliates only dead skin, does not stick to skin only hair
Applied against the grain of hair and removed with for less discomfort
Sugar also has the capability to remove finer and ingrown hairs along with hair missed during the first pull. Sugaring and waxing are both highly effective methods of hair removal and it is always best to consult with your service provider as to which would be best for you.
Clients with sensitive skin or those who may have contraindications for waxing appointments, would benefit from sugaring over waxing. Those who are using any of the following products or treatments would have contraindications for either type of hair removal service:
Other exfoliating treatments
Please make sure to consult your service provider if you do have any of the contraindications to ensure you are receiving optimal results.
What to expect for a Sugaring Hair Removal Appointment
When you arrive, we will greet you and get you checked in. After a short and peaceful wait in our Relax Room (have a mimosa or champagne!), you’ll be taken back to the treatment room by your service provider. They will consult with you on your appointment and ensure that you are serviced completely to your needs. The service provider will then allow you to get ready for your appointment before coming back to perform the service.
When sugaring is done, the skin is cleansed and powdered prior to applying the sugar. This helps prevent the sugar from prematurely dissolving from moisture and a reduced chance in breaking out.
The ball method is one way in which sugaring is applied and this is where the service provider inserts their gloved hand into the jar of sugar and forms a ball with it in their hand. The ball of sugar will then be applied opposite of the hair growth and removed with the hair growth. Sugar may also be applied with sticks and removed with strips similarly to soft wax. Both methods will effectively remove the hair and the ball method tends to be the more popular approach.
